The Day of Ivano-Frankivsk

Ivano-Frankivsk was founded in 1662 by the Polish hetman Andzej Pototski. The same year on May 7 he procured for the city a Magdeburg Law. This date is accepted by people as the Day of the City, but is usually celebrated on the 1st weekend of the May or on the 2nd weekend if May begins on Sunday.
The main feature of the celebration of the Day of Ivano-Frankivsk is a huge number of festivals held here. Traditionally considered a so-called "Smiths holiday" held for more than 10 years. In addition, you may see farriers’ wonders at the festival "Ornamental forging". These events were attended by the masters from over 20 countries, so the Ivano-Frankivsk is increasingly called the forging capital of Ukraine.
In addition, there is another holiday tradition - festival of creative collectives called "Carpathian Spring".
