Monument to Bohdan Khmelnytsky - Khmelnytsky

After the events of 1991 in Ukraine began to popularize historical figures, among which in the first place is the famous ruler of the past Zaporozhian Hetman Bohdan Khmelnytsky. Did not become the exception the city Khmelnitsky named in honor of the famous leader.

The monument to Bohdan Khmelnitsky was established and opened in 1993 opposite the Philharmonic Hall - next to the State Administration of Khmelnitsky region - after the liberation war in 1648-1657 which was started by Hetman.

The sculpture depicts a galloping Hetman with a characteristically raised hand holding a mace. Abnormal posture and horse figures disproportion caused heated discussion around the monument by city community, but it was installed.
